Approved Driving Instructor (DVSA ADI)
Hi my name is Sean Lawrence and I am a fully qualified, Government Approved Driving Instructor operating in the Oxford and South Oxfordshire area. I trained to become a driving instructor because I wanted a job with real satisfaction and there is nothing better when you are able to help somebody to realise their dream and pass their driving test! I trained with one of the industry leaders in instructor training; Learner Driving Centre’s (LDC), completing my training and qualifying in November 2016, becoming an LDC instructor shortly afterwards. In March 2018, I launched independently as Sean’s Driving School and the rest is history! I love my job and have always wanted to teach since I can remember, but was put off of the university process so decided to put my love of driving and desire to teach together to become an Approved Driving Instructor. I particularly enjoy offering lessons to those who suffer with anxiety or are worried about the process of learning to drive. There is nothing better than watching somebody pass their test first time and gain the independence they had doubted was ever possible! Whoever you are though, my driving school can help you gain your licence and independence and I enjoy teaching a wide variety of individuals.
My interests include my love for history and visiting new places and when I’m not working I love going to historic houses and castles as well as exploring big cities. I also really enjoy walking and am currently taking on the Thames path national trail both directions having currently completed the Source to Reading section. I also have a dog called Jasper who I enjoy taking on walks around my village and further afield.
I currently work between 08:00 and 17:30 Monday to Saturday and would be more than happy to try and fit you in for driving lessons, please get in touch today to beat the queues! Since 2002 I have lived and then later worked throughout Oxfordshire and attended Gosford Hill School and the sixth form in Kidlington, just north of Oxford, having lived in Merton at the time near Kidlington for over a decade. This is also where I met my wife Chloe, meaning I still have strong links to the area. For 6 years after that I lived in the village of Moulsford just south of Wallingford and since 2019, I have lived on Portway in Didcot where I live with Chloe and our cat, Tiggy. Because of living in these various areas, I believe I am uniquely positioned to deliver driving tuition to such a large area and much of my work is subsequently done in Didcot, Wallingford and Goring and the surrounding villages and have a good local knowledge of all of these areas. I used to work in retail and retail management around Oxfordshire, at Bunkers Hill Garden Nursery near Kidlington, in BP petrol stations across the county as well as Marks and Spencer in Cowley, Oxford. Although I enjoyed the jobs, I wanted a change of direction and now couldn’t be happier in my current role as an Approved Driving instructor.
